Rational Design of LDH/Zn <sub>2</sub> SnO <sub>4</sub> Heterostructures for Efficient Mineralization of Toluene Through Boosted Interfacial Charge Separation

It is crucial to efficiently separate and transport photo-induced charge carriers for the effective implementation of photocatalysis toward environmental remediation. A rational design strategy proposed validate such proposition through construction an interfacial structure in form LDH/Zn2SnO4 heterostructures this research. The transfer on greatly promoted via unique pathway, as characterized by transient photocurrent responses, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, electron paramagnetic resonance spectrum, photoluminescence analysis. As such, it contributes generation reactive oxygen species (ROS) activation reactants mineralization toluene. According situ DRIFTS spectra analysis, accumulation benzoic acid takes place possibly partial oxidation methyl group toluene at interface heterostructure. This process can promote photocatalytic with enhanced ring-opening efficiency. thus demonstrated superior photocatalyst against (removal efficiency 89.5%; 83.1%; quantum 4.55 × 10−6 molecules/photon). performance composite far exceeds that their individual components (e.g., P25, pure Mg-Al LDH, or Zn2SnO4). study expected offer a new path mechanism based highly efficient photocatalysts air purification.
